Very different to conventional attenuators

The Andrew's Audio multi-award winning AC-60 and AC-61 volume controls are quite unique. Traditional volume controls act as attenuators which absorb and dissipate extra power produced by the amplifier. Whatever the volume setting of the attenuator, the amplifier’s output will stay at 60 watts. However, as the Andrew's Audio AC-60 and AC-61 volume control is turned down, the AC’s tell the amplifier to produce less power. The net result is a more efficient system with less heat generated not only by the volume controls but also the amplifiers themselves. At full volume the Andrew’s Audio controller has no effect on the audio signal, and being a resistive device it has minimal effect on sound quality at lower levels.
